We have a Winner!

Happy Saturday, friends! I'm sharing with you once again my Christmas garland, using the free tutorial on Anna Maria Horner's blog found here.. I just love the old fashioned look of this garland and it's fun to make!

Just gather up some felt scraps, embroidery thread, scissors and a needle! I cut the circles last night while hanging out with my 11 year old and his pal who slept over. Tonight I'll probably stitch these up while watching something on TV. That's IF I finish cleaning the basement! My parents are visiting in two weeks so I'm cleaning like a mad woman.

This is what it looks like finished. I worked on this during the summer at the skatepark. You can never have too much of this! It also works as a head scarf for your dog!

He really will go along with anything. He just loves attention!

Now drum roll please........ The winner of the Sew Mama Sew giveaway on my blog is......

Terry from A Quilting Blog!

Terry was #14. She also had a clever comment about Duke being good in the photo so Santa Paws would bring him something good this year. Terry I've sent you an email. Congrats!

Thanks to everyone who entered and I just loved your comments about Duke!!

Really Random Thursday

Our tree is up and decorated, and Duke is all nestled and snug in his bed ~ under it. I see him using his bed more often these winter days. Must be warm. He is wearing his Christmas collar and snazzy bow tie for the holidays. He struts around feeling like a million bucks!

We received word from Clay the white boxer that he loves showing his WA Cougar pride with his new bow tie. His Dad sent me this picture. Isn't he cute?!

Do you have picture ornaments of your pets on your tree? I, of course, do. Love seeing Duke's puppy picture each year almost as much as the kids'!

Frosty's up in the yard and the countdown begins for my parent's arrival! 17 days! I wonder how much gift sewing I can get done before the holidays.

Have you noticed my blog changes? It's so colorful now. Makes me happy to see colorful patterns. And those Instagram photos in the sidebar kind of picture overkill but ....

Today is Really Random Thursday at Cindy's blog, Live a Colorful Life. The button is in my sidebar if you want go link up.

Duke and the fabric basket

If you haven't signed up for my Sew Mama Sew giveaway, click here.
Linking this finish to finish it up Friday!  Go see Amanda's cute finish!

Made another fabric basket! Added some of my big ric-rack to this one. It's for my friend's niece, who is 6. I found that cute owl flannel at JoAnn's a couple of months ago.

I just love this pattern by Film in the Fridge.

I add a piece of home decor fabric between the outer and lining pieces to give it structure.

Duke thought maybe, just maybe, I was giving him a basket of treats.

I hope to finish these stockings soon. By Christmas?!

They still look like this... And I need to make 5 more. :-o

Duke and the Braided Rug

I had so much fun with my son, Jack, reading your "Duke's thinking..." Comments from yesterday's post! If you haven't entered to win all the goodies, click here.

Some of our favorites were " have you seen her blog labels section? She loves me more than her boys " - yes even my husband is well aware of where Duke rates in this house... And "I think I need new head shots.. Is that my agent calling?" But there were so many others too, that had us laughing. I think I'll have to play this giveaway game more often.

Today I am taking photos to mark where the braided rug has grown to as of December 4th. I've decided to keep going with it and make it BIG. Thinking I might add some solid red into the mix next. Once again, Duke followed me out on the porch and landed in the photo shoot! He wasn't sure about the bells on the hat prop.

But I explained the hat was necessary to hide his, well, private parts. He looked away, slightly embarrassed.

He didn't like the Snowman either. It's heavy and seeing me pick it up startled him. So he sat on the far side of the rug. I traded one of my zipper pouches for the Snowman at the craft fair last weekend. Score!

Getting braver here but losing interest in the whole deal. I braided and stitched the rug while sitting at my booth last weekend. I heard lots of comments about how someone (old) in the family used to do that and how nice it was to see an old method being done again. I priced it high because I didn't really want to part with it, but for the right $, anything is for sale, right? And I'm not old by the way! I know some of you will relate to the old references whilst you knit, crochet, embroider, or quilt. "Oh, my grandma does that". Add to that my reading glasses to see what I'm doing and well, I may give the "appearance" of being "older." 8-)

After all that hard work duke needed a nap! I got him this blanket for $1 at the craft fair.

Well it was a post full of Duke pictures, after yesterday's post I thought it was appropriate.....now back to finishing up those Christmas stockings!

I leave you with a recent "Draw Something" photo I drew for Deb, my blogger friend! Wanna play? My user name is KrisCoulombe. I'm adding drawings to my blog posts now as a new ending ritual. :-)
