Really Random Thursday

My boy turned 11 yesterday! Jack is the baby in the family. He came along 8 years after Mitch. He is such a joy!

Yep I found another use for my AMH felt garland! (It's a tutorial on her blog.) So the front window is all decorated for Jack!

It's even festive on the inside.

The birthday boy took in donuts for his class treat. I was even "on the ball" and ordered them the day before so they were iced and decorated in birthday sprinkles. Gosh this was such an easy birthday treat. No killing myself the night before in the kitchen. :)

These boys are so much fun! I came in for lunch and brought one of Jack's best friends, who is home schooled. Jack was completely surprised!

I even managed a shot of the "surprised face".

Just in case I forgot, jack left me this message on my IPad.

Crazy socks are his thing right now. And Nike elites. Why couldn't I have come up with $15 socks that every boy wants in multiple colors?

Fall is here in the PNW. Gray clouds, a little rain and cooler temps. Bring it on!

It's great napping and sewing weather!

Gathering pumpkin decorating ideas! Which reminds me, Jack's Doctor Who birthday with a trip to the local Haunted House is this weekend! We will have 6 boys sleeping over. Save me - what have I done?!

29 again!

A husband who makes me laugh every day, two happy, healthy sons and a dog-son that never leaves my side. What more could a girl wish for?

Really Random Thursday

Of all of the pictures I have taken this week, this is my favorite.

I love this Hallmark Keepsake Ornament.  It reminds me of the first bass guitar we bought for our son, Mitch, when he was in elementary school.  It was green and white.

Family Weekend at Willamette is getting closer!  I miss our college Freshman.  I'm putting together the second box to send to him.  What should I send?  So far I have Costco "Ice" drinks, gummy bears, the gum 5 that he loves and a roll of quarters for laundry.

Every since I was hit by a car with Duke in the front seat next to me, he insists on riding in the back seat.  Sometimes he sits in the floor back there.  It breaks my heart.  I got him another puppy latte yesterday at Starbucks.  They offered it to me once when they were out of dog treats.  Now I ask for them.  They probably say, "Here comes that girl in the blue SUV with her dog again."
(It's whipped cream in a lid.)

I really wish I could write like this when I blog.

I have been listening to the radio (Pandora) while I sew and turning off the TV.  I love Jason Mraz.  I will make an exception when "Dancing with the Stars" returns later this month.

I am very aware of scents lately.  Why is that?  I have "fresh water" scented plug ins in the house right now - love!  And a fall candle burning that I can't remember the name of.

Why is it I can never find an Apple charger in the house?  We should have 5 for our various gadgets.  I think there is only one floating around.  I don't understand why this is.

I want to do this spinning stars QAL.  I printed the directions and I might paper piece the triangles. I have a big stack of WIPs so I don't know....I am envious of quilters who start something and finish it before starting something else.  How do they do that?

spinning stars - let's do a quilt along!
I love everything that Anna Maria Horner makes.

I'm linking up to my pal, Cindy!

End of Summer

I'm back!  Moving our oldest son, Mitch, to his college dorm was traumatic for me!  The good news is I didn't fall apart until we were back at home.  He loves Willamette University. He says it is "amazing" - loves his dorm, his roommate, the campus.  He bought his books, went to class, changed 3 of them, returned books, got new ones and is off and running! His latest text said "Philosophy Major" so I asked him what books (so I could read them) and he said Meno by Plato was one.  I skimmed it on my IPhone and decided the Spark notes might be more for me!!

Just after moving in.  I wonder if it still looks like this?

On our way home to WA from OR we stopped at skate parks so that our younger son, Jack, could have his own skating vacation.

These three pictures were taken at Burnside in Portland, OR.  It's  under a bridge. That skeleton face is on my list of "next quilts".

This is Battle Ground Skate Park in Battle Ground, WA.

The "full pipe" at Pier Park in OR.

Woodland Park in WA.

Since we've been back from this trip my in-laws have been here.  My MIL is a quilter so fabric shopping had to happen. :)

With Jack back to school after the Labor Day weekend, I plan to get back to my many WIPS and more regular blogging!

I'm off to catch up on what you all have been up to!

Kris.....and Duke!

Sunshine Sunday

Happy Sunday to you!  Duke had a nice run at the dog park and snooped around in the woods while his brother climbed trees.

We enjoyed a beautiful day in the PNW.

This is the picture they published.  Click to see the article.  That's our white house in the top right corner, too!

I asked my friends on facebook to vote on the color background choices that I posted here yesterday.
Turquoise won by a  landslide!  Yellow came in second.
So I decided to use both!
