The Quilt Asylum

Have you heard of The Quilt Asylum in McKinney, TX?  I went there twice on my recent trip to Dallas and fell in love with the shop!  They were kind enough to allow me to take pictures of some of the many quilts that adorn their walls.  Here are some of my favorites!

Love the colors and those TINY squares!

Nothing calls to me more than a play on values.

A pretty mini

Another pretty mini and great use of scraps

This one was my absolute favorite with the squares on point and orange around the edges.

This is an example for a class they offer.

They were well aware of the FLICKR online swoon along with Katy at I'm a Ginger Monkey.

Pretty pinks and beautiful quilting.

I was really amazed by their selection of fabrics.  They ship, too!
Here's a link to their blog.  I met the owner or "the warden", Susan, and told her I've been reading her Facebook posts for a year now and just had to come check out her shop.  This week she announced on FB that she will be doing a Thursday Tidbit each week on her blog - sharing her knowledge.  This week's was math for quilters which talked about the grid of a block. Great stuff!  Follow her on FB or follow her blog!  You won't be disappointed.

I haven't linked up to Amanda Jean in weeks so I'm going to show you the diamonds I "finished" paper piecing individually.

It's a stretch, I know!  Check out other finishes over at:

I'm off to see Big Bad VooDoo Daddy tonight with my hubby.  Date night!
What are you up to this weekend?

Kris

Duke trying out some quilts I brought home from my parents' house in Texas.

  1. I will definitely check out Quilt Asylum. And I agree with the quilt set on point with the orange. Yes!

So...do you live in Seattle? I used to live there. LOVED it. The long summers here in Fresno are not my kind of climate.

  6. Oh the inspiration! Nothing like seeing quilts to make me want to make more quilts. Your paper piecing looks fabulous and is definitely something I want to give a go at soon.

  7. I love the English Paper Piecing! I'm working on some diamond-stars like that -- colors on the outside, with light stars in the middle. Awesome!
