I looked at a brick pattern by Amy Butler and then went with my own sizes. Since I love pillow quilts and had made one before, I wanted to stuff this one, too. I made up my own method of stuffing though. Then I tied each brick in the center.
It's late so I can't take outdoor pictures - maybe tomorrow. Here's Sheri's quilt all bunched up in a chair.
I sure do love the colors of these fabrics. I think the black scattered throughout gives it a nice touch.
The back is a fun fabric I found at JoAnns.
I thought this quilt needed a soft, soothing back.
It's such a great feeling to finish a quilt!
Edited to add outdoor pictures

I love the color play, and you are so right about the black! It's just right. And I love that you stuffed it. The first thing I noticed was how nice and fluffy cozy it looked. Great quilt.
ReplyDeleteThis is amazing! I've never seen a quilt stuffed like that - it looks so inviting & you're right - the black going through just works somehow
ReplyDeletewhat a kool quilt!! Love it! The colors the texture , thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteStunning!! I love all the little pockets. Maybe you could talk a bit about how you did it and how you tie a quilt. Is that embarrassing... that I don't know how to tie a quilt? Bet she will adore it!
ReplyDeleteThose puffy quilts look so cool. I always think I'd like to lay on it instead of under it, or maybe both :) I bet your friend will love it!
ReplyDeleteKris - love your quilt. I'd like to know how you did the stuffing. I'm always interested in trying new methods.

Thanks for the kind words everyone! I sewed the rows into a quilt top, then I sewed each row to the backing so that they were long tubes. Then, I stuffed each tube from both ends to the middle. I needed a yardstick to get it into the middle! But this was much quicker than sewing each brick one at a time/stuffing/attaching to each other. To break up the tubes, I inserted embroidery floss top to bottom and back up to top and tied, in the center of each brick.
ReplyDeleteI love your fabric choice for the backing. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous !!!! This is such a great idea and I love the bright and colourful fabrics with the black.
